“The text is my rendition of the traditional fable. This was the second of the three Aesop’s Fables books we planned to make. It was such a great story we were surprised it didn’t sell as fast as The Man and the Lion [A15]. We might have found the reason when someone told us, ‘I’d like to get your book for a friend who collects little books, but what would he think if I gave him a book about a miser?’”
