This book, featuring a photograph of Lawton Kennedy, covers the timeline of the printer’s life, from boyhood to his last years. A great source of information on Kennedy, the book was produced by the Book Club of California, the group for which Kennedy spent many years printing.

After the printer’s death in 1980, biographer Ruth Teiser remarked at the conclusion of the book:

For 67 years he had been a plain printer, plain not in lack of sophistication but in the sense that his work was forthright, traditional, appropriately allusive but not contrived, and above all meant to be read.
