Danny finished printing Alces the Sad Moose--a "fairy tale" about the adventures of a moose and a polar bear who escape from a city zoo--in mid-August of this year, and sent it along to Special Collections just in time for this exhibition. By our count, this makes Danny's twenty-first limited edition publication. Danny also sent the woodblocks for the color separations for two of the prints in the book, plus photographs of himself cutting the woodblocks, making the separations, hand setting the type, and working up the press. This is characteristic of Danny's spirit of generosity and his enthusiasm for his work. All the personal recollections about his books that appear in each case have been written by Danny especially for this exhibition.
