The Pagan Review

William Sharp, 1855 -1905
The Pagan Review, No. 1 (August 15, 1894)
Rudgwick, Sussex: W. H. Brooks, August 15, 1894.
Originally on loan from the collection of William F. Halloran

The one and only issue of this extremely rare periodical was edited by William Sharp, who also wrote, under various pseudonyms, all the articles it contains. Laid in is a reproduction of a photo of Sharp by Frederick Holyer which was reproduced in Stone and Kimball’s chap-book. The tone of the issue is irreverent and cosmopolitan, announcing a “new paganism” to replace old religious and romantic institutions.
