Many bike shops are facing empty shelves with few bikes being in stock outside of those approaching the price of a used car. Even stores that were on top of ordering extra bikes attempting to get ahead of the shortage were facing issues in keeping items in stock. These image features both of these phenomena. The bike pictured was a custom colored triathlon bike that costs upward of $4,000 next to a couple of empty bike holders, the empty spots being a rarity at the local store, often causing a gasp from regular customers accustomed to full shelves and near limitless bike availability. Bikes have become a rarity with very few outside of this specific model or others of the same price level being out of stock for weeks if not months and in some situations another year.
