Home = School

Description

Teaching is not for everyone, but everyone had to learn fast once schools began shutting down in April of 2020. Homeschooling was always something that was happening just outside the relm of most people's education perspectives. There was a stigma that was and is still loosely attributed to it the statement of “oh they must be homeschooled” meaning they were not socialized properly, but that perspective has shifted and will now leave a lasting impression on generations to come. As students and parents were forced into this new relm of existence the struggle became real. For Jess it was no different she had a recently graduated High School senior who was not able to move to California for college due to the pandemic, an elementary student who works much better in person and her, herself was working on her own university classes. The roles of student, teacher, RA, Mom and essential worker brought all her differing roles under 1 roof. Virtual learning is no longer a thing of the future, but a thing of the moment and as the year progressed became the “new-normal”. The whole family is looking forward to going back to classes in the fall.
