Calling of Service

The COVID-19 pandemic in many ways emphasized the disparities that already existed within Milwaukee. As such, those sources of community that were already engaged in the struggle for equality became activated to fight the virus as well. From non-profit organizations assisting those in need, to African American business owners converting their productions to provide essential items, the call to service has been answered by many brave individuals in the community. Many individuals have held strong while encountering the virus itself or the social, educational, and financial impact that it has created. In spite of the damage of COVID-19, many have shown resiliency in coping with it. The items collected here highlight the resliancy of Milwaukee's African American community.
