The Yiddish theatre was blessed with an abundance of musical talent. The first generation of professional Yiddish theatre composers often came of age in prestigious synagogue choruses in Eastern Europe, and drew upon rigorous and varied training as they churned out an impressive repertoire of songs and scores, many of which have stood the test of time.
