An oral history interview with Albert A Kabura - an international student at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.

Description

The initiative by oral historians to document our COVID 19 experiences in the past year is ingenious and sacrosanct. The COVID MKE archive, when fully collected, will give us the opportunity, in the future, to look back at how we survived these very trying times. Everyone has their COVID 19 story; maybe bad or good. For this oral history, I interviewed a colleague who, like me, is an international student at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. It was exciting to gather his experience because it was unimaginable to be in isolation for so long and have your family and close friends thousand of miles away. It is essential to document the activities he engaged in to keep spirit, soul, and body together. Also, most universities transitioned to online learning, which is a novel approach to learning for some international students. Learning about how my interviewee fared with online classes is noteworthy. I learned how he was able to adjust quickly to online learning.
Home remedies were also discussed in this oral history project. The interviewee discussed some home remedies he believed to be potent in combating coronavirus. Also, another experience discussed was the impact of government policies on our lives during the lockdown.
In summary, this oral history project looks at the COVID 19 experiences, both good and bad, of an International student at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.
