Title

"Le Nozze di Figaro," A Powerfully Masked Performance

Description

This Instagram post by the UWM Opera Theater and photo by Kaleigh Rae Photography documents a beautiful moment during the April 9th performance of "Le Nozze di Figaro," that was virtually streamable through the UWM Peck School of the Arts. The performers not only sung in the original Italian of the opera, originally composed by Wolfgang Mozart, they also performed in masks at both performances. The performers as well as the orchestra wore mask. In rehearsals, practices, and performances, the performers and musicians adapted to COVID -19; they performed at the Badger Hall April 9th and 10th and demonstrated that the masks had no effect on their passions and talents as they exquisitely performed a comedic opera that focused not only on love also highlighted late 1700s class structures. This performance was directed by Adam da Ros and conducted by Jun Kim.
