This pamphlet dates from the late 1960’s when the Unitarian Church North held their Sunday meetings at 1425 Mequon Road, a space that the congregation rented from The Mequon Women’s Club. The cover features the graphic style and bright color of the era. The symbolism on the cover illustrates the inclusivity that has been and still is a backbone of the Unitarian community. It includes a Christian cross, Candlestick of Judea, the Buddhist Wheel of Life, the Cry of Mohammed, the balance of Tao as well as the Continuing Life of the Hindu people. The Lamp of Knowledge is central to the illustration. Around the lamp are circles, which signify one world. The text on the left summarizes Unitarian Universalism and references its 400-year history and notable Universalists like Ralph Waldo Emerson and Susan B. Anthony. The pamphlet lists the values that the UU church supports as well as the name and contact information for Reverend Brent Smith, long-time leader of the congregation.
