The Milwaukee Zen Center was one of the first Buddhist groups to be established in Milwaukee, starting with small gatherings in the 1970s. They have gradually but steadily grown in the decades since, purchasing a permanent home in the Upper East Side neighborhood, establishing a prison ministry to 9 different correctional institutions across Wisconsin, and joining the efforts of inter-faith and anti-racism collectives. Under the leadership of three successive resident priests, the Milwaukee Zen Center's members have become a force for peace and justice in Milwaukee and beyond.
