As part of a 2013 work day, the Milwaukee Zen Center's members added this minimalist Buddha to the Zen Center's main entrance, a screen door that faces Stowell Ave. The simple strokes are reminiscent of calligraphy, an art practiced by many Buddhist priests and laypeople, and the non-invasive nature of the symbol is a way to set the Zen Center apart from the neighboring homes without drawing undue attention to its difference.
