David Slucki

College of Charleston

David Slucki is Assistant Professor of Jewish Studies at the College of Charleston. His book, The International Jewish Labor Bund after 1945: toward a global history, published by Rutgers University Press in 2012, looks at the attempts of Bundists to adapt their shattered movement in the wake of the Holocaust. His current research interests include Holocaust survivor networks in the 1940s and 1950s; humor and Holocaust representation; and Yiddish travel writers’ encounters with race in the twentieth century. David has taught at the University of Melbourne and Monash University, and has been internationally published and awarded for his scholarship. From August 2010-July 2011, he was a Senior Curator in Indigenous History at Museum Victoria, one of Australia’s leading public museums. He is excited to be joining the Yaschik/Arnold Program in Jewish Studies and to discover all that Charleston has to offer.
