The illustrations are wood engravings ... twenty-four full-page and one vignette ... text composition, in thirteen-point Van Dijck... The headings have been hand-set in Albertus capitals by the printer. The text and illustrations have been printed by Harold McGrath - from the type and the original wood blocks ... The soft-white eggshell-finish stock was specially produced for this edition at the Mohawk mill ... The binding, in earth-brown natural-finish cloth, stamped in crimson, has been done by Robert Burlen & Son in Hingham, Massachusetts"--Publisher's announcement.
"Printed ... by the Hampshire Typothetae in West Hatfield, Massachusetts, the type having been composed in San Francisco by Mackenzie-Harris and cast in metal by Michael & Winifred Bixler, in Boston. Barry Moser ... planned the typographic format and executed the wood engravings ... Jeremy M. Wilson ... wrote the preface"-- Colophon.
