Henri Matisse; there are twenty drawings, made as studies for the etchings, and the six etchings printed by hand. ... The type is the linotype Scotch Roman, embellished with more than forty chapter-openings drawn by hand, and printed throughout in red and black. The paper for the book was ... made by the Worthy Paper Company; the studies are printed on thin colored papers; and the etchings are printed on Canson Gravure. The binding is of full brown Bancroft buckram, with an unusual design by Leroy Appleton embossed upon it, bas-relief, in gold"--Publisher's announcement.
