"The second, in this Twenty-second Series of the fine books made for the members of this Club ... typographic plans ... [of] John Austen... The composition, the printing and the binding were done under the supervision of Charles Batey ... The type is the 16-point size of monotype Garamond. The paper is an all-rag sheet made especially for this book at William Nash's mills in Oxfordshire. The binding is of heavy boards covered with green buckram and decorated with designs by Agnes Parker blocked in gold. There are decorative end-papers, and decorations on the heavy slip-case, all drawn by Agnes Parker"--Publisher's announcement.

"The text of this edition ... follows that edited by J. C. Smith for the Clarendon Press in 1909. This edition consists of fifteen hundred copies printed ... by Charles Batey, Printer to the University, Oxford. The decorations for this edition were made by that fine English artist John Austen, before his death and the engravings in illustration of the text were then made by his friend Agnes Miller Parker"--Colophon.
