Description
"The first, in this Seventeenth Series of the fine books made for the members of this Club... The illustrations are portraits of the pilgrims, done as brilliantly-colored miniatures... The type used is Walbaum. The type pages are decorated with initials, and title-headings, drawn by Charles E. Skaggs with the flavor of the books of Chaucer's time. These are printed in 'monk's vermilion' and 'monk's blue'... The entire set is printed in black, vermilion and blue inks... the printing of the miniatures in color was done by the Aldus Printers... The binding is of boards: the backs of which are covered with white leather stamped with the title in gold; the sides being covered with a pattern-paper printed in colors to folow an intricate and apposite design drawn by Mr. Szyk. The slip=cases are covered with the same unusual pattern-paper"-- Publisher's announcement.
