Commentaria in Bibliam
Saint Jerome, d. 419 or 20. Commentaria in Bibliam. Venice: Joannes and Gregorius de Gregoriis, de Forlivio, 1497-1498. 35 cm.
Call Number: (RARE) BS 485 .J47x 1497
This two volume set brings together all of St. Jerome's biblical commentaries dating from the fourth and fifth centuries. St. Jerome's works were popular in 15th century Venice, though this is the only complete edition of this work printed during this period.
The type face is mixed—utilizing both gothic and roman typesets. The gothic text is used to represent the biblical passages themselves, while the commentary is printed in roman.
