This sound postcard combines clips from Unitarian Church North’s (UCN) Easter Sunday service conducted on April 17, 2022. This service was recorded by UWM student Bridget Greuel. The postcard is conceived as a mini service beginning with the opening chime, welcome message and statement of UCN’s vision: UCN provides a light of religious freedom in the warmth of a caring community. The lighting and extinguishing of the flaming chalice bookend the sounds on the postcard. Within the service, Reverend Tony Larsen conducts a sermon about Easter and how it is celebrated in Unitarian Universalist (UU) Congregations. Reverend Larson elaborates on his perspective on celebrating Easter at UCN. Interspersed within the postcard are musical interludes from the Easter service and portions of the oral history conducted by Bridget Greuel on April 23, 2002. The first speaker is Joy Schroeder who describes the UU community and UCN’s vision statement. The second speaker is Carol Pawlak, who speaks to the welcoming nature and inclusiveness of the UCN community.
