These are seat indentures, also known as deeds, for Congregation Beth Israel. The first indenture dates from September 6, 1907. For a payment of $105 the congregant secured seat #58 for himself at CBI’s 462 Fifth Avenue location. Additionally, he secured the corresponding seat in the basement and women’s seat #58 in the gallery. The second indenture dates from July 19, 1927. $475 was paid to secure men’s seat D41 R and women’s seat C 30 R at CBI’s Teutonia Avenue location. The final “Deed” was secured by John Broun who paid $150 for seat #2 on September 12, 1905, at the Fifth Avenue Location.
