Christian Scientists have been in Milwaukee since the 1880's. In 1918 a group of Christian Scientists acquired a plot of land on Kenwood and constructed a church. In 1920 a Fourth Church of Christ, Scientist was formed; after the original group who purchased the land dissolved, the Fourth Church was given the plot of land. They built a church in 1921, and in 1923 they gained the surrounding three lots. In 1929 the group built a larger church using Chicago architect Charles Draper Faulkner, known for designing Christian Science church buildings. This building is now home to the Chinese Christian Church of Milwaukee, which purchased the building from the shrinking Christian Science congregation in 2000.
