About
Project:
Through UW-Milwaukee's SURF program (Support for Undergraduate Research Fellows), a small group of students was tasked with researching methods to start a digital database for the UWM zooarchaeological comparative collection. Assistance from UWM's digital collections library team introduced us to OMEKA S, which is an open-source software that met our objectives nicely.
This website is a continued work in progress as we proceed to experiment with the capabilities of the software and try new methods of digital organization. Our goal is that this database will not only be useful for academic purposes but also be accessible from virtually anywhere.
OMEKA S:
Omeka S is database software used to store our rich image faunal collection. It has an advanced catalogization and storage system with web design elements. It has given us a space to share the archaeology department's faunal collection without having to access the lab. This website and software can be used on smartphones and anywhere in the states. Please seek the tutorial page for any help or provide us feedback if you are so inclined.
Thank you for visiting our site!
