Binding: Portfolio folder constructed of handmade and painted paper. Folder bound with a green pencil. Paper: Handmade by the participants of the summer writing program. Printing: Letterpress. Notes: Collaboration with a Class at Naropa University for their Summer Writing Program. Signed by the participants of the program.
“This book was printed by the Thomases and students in their class during the Summer Writing Program at the Naropa University in Boulder Colorado. The week's focus was political activism. The book contains nine broadsides, each Letterpress by a student with a short saying from one of the poets that were in residence that week at the SWP. These poets include, Anne Waldman, Sonia Sanchez, Amiri Baraka, Kristin Prevallet, Rachel Levitsky, Alan Gilbert, Bob Holman, Laird Hunt and Eliot Katz. Each broadside is signed by the poet. The students also made the portfolio book, each cover was hand painted. The structure was developed by Peter and Donna Thomas, and is non-adhesive, there is no glue, it uses a pencil to hold itself together (the pen is mightier than the sword) which is made from recycled paper (as a political statement).”
