“In the summer of 2002 Donna hiked the John Muir Trail for the second time. Her friend Katy joined her on this 218 mile trek, from California's Yosemite Valley to Mt. Whitney, and a number of other people (including Peter) joined in at various times. Donna painted two miniature books on that trip, Landscapes of the John Muir Trail [A109] and Wildflowers of the John Muir Trail [A108]. This book combines some of those paintings with text written by some of those people who accompanied Donna on her journey. The wood used for the cover is clear heart redwood salvaged from the interior of our neighbor's house and cut, milled and finished by Donna with the help her brother John. Donna also carved a landscape into the front cover of each book.”
