Shambhala Meditation Center of Milwaukee has been a part of Milwaukee's north side since the late 1970's and is one of the oldest Shambhala Centers in the United States. The center started as a weekly study group in David and Jane Shapiro's house and grew large enough to gain center status. They moved out of the Shapiro's living room and into a larger space on North Ave then another space on Downer Ave. In 1993, they moved into their current building on Oakland Ave and have been a mainstay with renovated space for its members and community. You can read the center's full history here.
