Drive Through Affection

Description

Safety became a priority after the conditions of COVID-19 created an environment of uncertainty globally. This uncertainty impacted the African American community of Milwaukee as members of it began to rapidly increase in infections of the virus. Daily social functions and operations were severely altered to maintain proper methods of social distancing to cope with the spread of the virus. For Stephanie Brown, this meant that a baby shower that she was planning for a close friend would be canceled, leaving the new family disconnected from their loved ones being able to shower them with the love and affection that many were culturally accustomed to. Stephanie, as an example of resiliency, decided to keep the baby shower, yet follow all the rules of social distancing. The “Surprise Drive Through Baby Shower” was invented. Here, we see the drive-up station where friends and family can drop off gifts for the first-time parents from the safety of their vehicles, while keeping the loving tradition intact. The next picture shows Stephanie dressed in decorative PPE ready to collect the contributions.
