Sergio Ramírez is nowadays one of the most well-known writers in Spanish language. The Nicaraguan, 64, is the author of novels, essays, short stories, Ramírez has been a politician and a revolutionary, and he linked his name to the Sandinista revolution that in 1979 toppled down Somoza's dictatorship. In the eighties he was part of the Council of Government, holding the office of deputy president of the Republic. After the electoral defeat in 1990, he worked for a platform of reformist Sandinism by creating in 1995 the MRS, Movimiento de Renovación Sandinista.Since 1996 he has dealt almost entirely with literature: to date, he has published four novels, two collections of short stories and four essays, one of which, «Adiós muchachos, memoria della rivoluzione sandinista», has been published in Italy by Frilli Editori in 200.
