This is fascinating portrait of Juchitan, a small Mexican city near the Guatemalan border, where a third gende exists besides male and female. In Juchitan a person assigned male at birth only has to embrace a feminine spirit to be considered and treated as a "muxe" by the entire community. In other ways this is a truly unique society. The population of Zapotec Indians resist the trends of globalization. The film profiles three people who are muxe: a teacher, a hairdresser and a shop owner.
