A compilation (one LP from 1971 plus five singles) of songs by the Chilean folk singer Victor Jara, who wa murdered in Chile's Estadio Nacional during the 1973 coup d'etat. Jara's support for the Socialist government of Salvador Allende, as well as his involvement in the critical Nueva CanciĆ³n (New Song) movement of the mid 20th century, made him the subject of popular praise and ultimately a foe of Augusto Pinochet's military dictatorship.
