Mecha is a middle-aged woman with several accident-prone teens, a husband who dyes his hair, and the tediou problem of sullen servants. Nothing that a few drinks can't cure. To avoid the uncomfortably hot weather, they spend their summers at a country estate whose glory has long faded. Mecha's cousin, Tali, lives in the nearby city La Ciénaga with a crew of small children and her husband.
